The earliest known reference to Daniel Wilson is found in the Mississippi State Archives 1810 Territorial Tax Rolls (Familysearch.org). Daniel is also named in Albert Eugene Casey’s book, “Amite County, Mississippi 1699-1890”, Vol 3, p. 478 in Lt. Colonel George H. Nixon’s Regiment of Mississippi Militia, War of 1812. Dunbar Rowland’s “The Official and Statistical Register of the State of Mississippi, Centennial Edition, 1917” names Daniel as an inhabitant of Mississippi in 1816. Daniel and wife Mary had children, Daniel P., Margaret, Jane, Eliza, Rebecca, Sophie, and Robert. All were named in his will - Amite Co. MS Wills, Vol 1, p 320-322, dated 5 Jan 1847, probated February Term, 1847. Wife, Mary’s will- Amite County MS Wills, Vol 2, p 166-168 dated 25 June, 1859, was probated in 1865. Daughter Eliza, born in Amite County in 1811, married Henry Cox in 1836. Rebecca Cox married Robert Smith McLain in 1871. Mary Elizabeth McLain married William Lee Tatum in 1893. Mary Tatum married Emmett L. Moorer in 1926. My mother, Mariann Moorer was born in Centreville, Wilkinson County, Mississippi in 1930. First Family descendant member: |
